IntroductionComing up for air after the end of a long marriage, I've discovered my natural response to being alive is a smiling heart--singing, happy, dancing and generally being in awe of the beauty of the world in the present moment (esp. when its sunny outside). This could be charming but also makes me vulnerable to being run over by the on-coming metaphorical bus when, like an over-eager puppy, I go chasing after shiny, pretty things on the other side of the street called "life" without looking both ways. I'm endlessly easy going, but passionate and spiritual, and at my best when surrounded by people and relationships that reflect unconditional love and acceptance of my joyful enthusiasms and kick my butt when I attempt to overcompensate with stubborn procrastination, controlling, worrying or thinking WAY too much. I'm learning to see that not knowing what's around the corner doesn't have to be scary, rather exciting if I think of everything that is yet to happen in my life as a great surprise and adventure...We are all born to be curious explorers of the world. I'm hoping its never too late to remember and act on that.

Favorite moviesLove films of all kinds, esp. if I can watch and drink good beer at the same time. Most transcendental movie moment ever: the dancing plastic bag scene from "American Beauty". Most recent inspiring movie quote, Joe Strummer: "people can do anything." http://www.joestrummerthemovie.com/ Saddest ending: Mel Gibson's final sprint in "Gallipoli". Movies I can watch over and over: "Raising Arizona" and "Lost in America".
Favorite musicYou can find me dancing in the shower and rocking out in my car to totally and utterly "age inappropriate" music at every opportunity-- everything from indie-alt folk/rock like Sufjan Stevens and Ray Lamontagne, to more mainstream like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Harper and Eddie Vedder, along with old standbys like Crowded House, REM and XTC. And anything classical that gives me goosebumps and tears. If music is good therapy, I should be verrrry well-adjusted. And yet, I do not own an iPod. Curious.
Favorite booksI am a non-fiction kinda grrrL, if it's brilliantly written and makes me laugh all the better. Anything by Bill Bryson, Danny Wallace's "Yes Man" and David Sedaris' essays are amazing. In a more serious vein, Joseph Campbell kicks ass. I deal with my own love of words by writing poetry (and apparently blogs...).

You moved the pot before the coffee stopped brewing. Do you smell the mountains or the burro?

Life is way too short to cry over spilled coffee (although it is the nectar of the gods and mine is damn good). Quote to live by: "Let everything happen to you, beauty and terror. Just keep going, no feeling is final." -Rilke
