Introduction	My mother was born and raised in the Philippine Islands, in Manila. Her parents were married in LeRoy, Minn in 1907 and settled in Manila. In 2010 I inherited my mother’s diaries and letters, which begin in 1928, just as she was entering her senior year in high school. I also have her scrap book which she started when she was 15 and kept until she married in 1937. This blog is a transcription of her diaries and letters and my comments and recollections of her life. In 1930 my father arrived at the University of Oregon and began sending letters back home. My grandmother saved them all so I have added his experiences from those letters as well. They met in the summer of 1931 and stayed together through college and over 50 years of marriage. My mother passed away in 1991 at age 80. My father passed away at 99 in 2011. If you are just joining our family in reading this blog I recommend you start at the beginning and catch up with the story.
