"I'll Have My Life Back with an Extra Side of Chi!"

Introduction	I am a 34 year old woman who has struggled with severe back pain for almost five years now. In 2006, I ruptured my L5 disc and went through chiropractic treatments, physical therapy, oral steroids, muscle relaxers, pain medication, and epidural steroid injections over the course of three years. However, I did not respond to any of these treatments and had surgery in 2009. Unfortunately, this did not turn out to be a quick fix as expected. I still experience horrible back pain which radiates down my leg and can incapacitate me for days at a time. Eventually, my doctor sent me for a post-surgical MRI two years after my surgery and reported that there were no ruptured discs or damage that could be causing the pain. So, he recommended I undergo another round of epidural injections. Reluctantly, I went for the first injection and received NO pain relief at all. Based on my experiences, I truly believe Western medicine has nothing left to offer me regarding this issue. So, I have decided to make some major lifestyle changes and explore alternative methods via Eastern medicine. This blog will serve as a journal for my thoughts, feelings, and progress as I embark on this journey.
