Introduction	My wife, Gwen, has a stronger spirit and more beautiful heart than anyone I know. She is my soulmate, my best friend, and a role model for her children. She has made an impact in more lives than her family could ever imagine. We remain hopeful in the peace that God has created her life for a purpose--and she will continue living His purpose even through the pain and uncertainty. In June of 2007 Gwen was diagnosed with gastric (stomach) cancer, very aggressive and rare in the United States, and one of the most dreaded. She was unable to take any nourishment by mouth, so she had a port (central line) placed in her arm that distributed nutrition (TPN) through an IV. She was originally admitted to Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, but since this was an unusual and aggressive cancer in the U.S., and had reached an advanced stage it was determined that we would need to seek a more highly specialized cancer treatment center.
