About me

Introduction I am a "cradle" Catholic of 40ish years. I went to 8 years of Catholic school and, like so many, "lost" my faith for many, many years. Okay, I didn't completely lose it. I still believed in God, but that was about it. I was bitter, angry, and felt that the Church was too man-made and self-serving. I don't know for sure what brought me back. It was a gradual process, I think. But at some point I began reading. Reading a lot. No, not the Bible. Okay, yes, the Bible - but that wasn't what opened my eyes. I read books about the Catholic church. Her history, doctrine, and structure. I learned that while I knew plenty about "what" to do (and avoid doing)in life, I didn't know much about the "why" or the "how". As I continued my study I also studied Protestants, Muslims, Neopagans and Atheists. This helped to add context to what I was learning in addition to just satisfying curiosity. Now to the real point for this section, the small print. I am not a priest or otherwise directly represent the Catholic church. I will try to document all the facts I give, but any opinions I give are mine alone.
