| Introduction | After having children I was inspired to start sewing and before I knew it I was hooked. Sew Shellz started as a blog: a place for me to share my creations with family and friends. It wasn't long afterwards that (after much persuasion) I decided to open shop on Etsy and Facebook. As for what inspires me now, that's a tough one. I would have to say certain fabrics really get the creative juices flowing, but color is a huge inspiration. I love playing with color and mixing colors that people wouldn't think to mix. I love for my clothing to stand out and have a voice of its own. I often wonder if my love for fashion and design was something impressed upon me at an early age. I grew up in NY surrounded by a large family of women. Looking back I realize now that these women weren't just any women, they were fashionista's. Not only did they have purses and shoes for every outfit (YES, every single one), they also had wigs. Those women knew how to dress and dress in style. My Nana (grandmother) was one of 17 children and a seamstress herself. |
