| Introduction | My name is Shaun Kirchmann and I was born and raised in the Canadian prairies. As a child I develop a close connection and fascination with aquatic ecosystems. That fascination led to pursuing a Bsc Marine Biology Degree at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. Soon after graduating I received an opportunity to participate in the International Youth Internship Program organized by the Marine Institute in Newfoundland. My six Month internship will be spent in the Sub Saharan African country of Malawi, where my goal is to aid in the development of sustainable rural pond aquaculture. |
