| Introduction | I grew up in a family of seven in Denver, Colorado. There are many influences in my life that have led to my current passions of horticulture, kitchen gardens, and the ecological use, or 2nd use of everything to support “nature” (as my 7-year-old would say). My parents were teachers and involved in the arts so I have always had a respect for education and passion for art and collaboration. I currently teach and serve as the wood shop director for the University of Colorado. I love working with students and they inspire me every day. I put myself through grad school (MFA, Photo) by working my way up from prep cook to chef in a 5-star restaurant. Since then I have always loved food, especially good, healthy food. My own family, with four kids and always lots of friends around, also has been a fabulous inspiration for uncovering delicious, healthy alternatives from our garden. I want to model for them how to live with passion and to have respect for our world. 2nd Use gives me the platform to share that journey. |
