| Introduction | Detroit-born and raised, Hoosier-trained and Chicago-polished. I've been a planner for more than 20 years now, based in Chicago. I've had the opportunity to work in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Currently I'm a planning consultant. My bonafides: I have a bachelors in urban planning from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, and a masters in urban planning and policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My interest has always been in the rise, fall and (hopeful) revitalization of old industrial cities -- growing up in Detroit is what steered me to this profession. This blog has been a great outlet for my thoughts. Since starting this in February 2012, I've been fortunate to have pieces featured in Urbanophile, Planetizen, Rust Wire, New Geography and the Atlantic Cities.
