| Introduction | For over thirty years my professional career has been dedicated to preparing woman for birth and newborn care through childbirth and breastfeeding education, assisting at births, labor support and providing training programs for doulas, childbirth educators, and the general public. I am the past Executive Director of the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS), co-chair of the International MotherBaby Initiative, and co-chair of the World Alliance of Breastfeeding Action (WABA) Health Care Practices Task Force. In addition to the United States, I have been honored to present to birth and breastfeeding audiences in Tanzania, Africa, New Delhi, India, Geneva, Switzerland, and Guatemala City, Guatemala. I have a Bachelors of Science in Health; I am a board certified lactation consultant, a doula and doula trainer with DONA International, and a childbirth educator with Lamaze International. |
