Introduction	Jook Joint Shimmy Blues ("JJSBLUES") has been offficially running biweekly blues dance parties in NYC since May 2007. These dance parties evolved from the monthly house parties that were thrown at the homes of various willing NYC dancers. Those house parties were organized by the founder, Hether Samuels, along with the help of other dance friends beginning in 2003. Today, the JJSBLUES parties have entertained as many as 140 guests in a given week. JJSBLUES also provides dance education in the past through MondayNite Blues Practicas and currently through Blueskool. Through these classes, JJSBLUES has brought blues dance instructors for workshops including Bill Borgida, Brenda Collins, Noelle Gray, Devona Cartier & Josh Boroff, and Mike Leggett. JJSBLUES will continue to promote the joy and artistry of blues dancing through its dance parties and through lesson series and workshops. JookJoint Shimmy runs annual, nationa Blues Blaze workshop & exhchange weekend featuring such prominent blues dance instructors such as Steven Mitchell and Virginie Jensen. Blues Blaze takes place the first weekend of October. This year on October 1 to October 3, 2010.
