| Introduction | Till I was 19 I thought that God was a fairytale for the uneducated people to believe-fine for them but definitely not for me. I came from a home where "religion" was never taught, so I got the idea that God was a myth from my schooling and what I had seen happening around me. However, I wasn't satisfied with life and thought if I could only be rich I could then buy things to make me happy. I pursued engineering to get rich quick. When things got tuff in school I got real depressed thinking about failing outta college and only found satisfaction on the weekends in the bar scene, parties, and drinking till I passed out. Unfortunately Monday mornings brought back misery and thinking about suicide. The only person I knew that was secure with life pointed to her relationship with Jesus as the source of her strength. Because I respected her, I started to pray on my own that God would show me if he is real. He gave me an assurance in my heart that he is real and that I could know him through Jesus. I started to read/study the Bible like no other book and today I can say that I have found hope that lasts in Jesus! That was 15 years ago and the most important decision I ever made! |
