Introduction	I am hungry for all things salty, sweet, crispy, flaky and creamy. I love the word caramelize. I love the sizzle and pop from my frying pan once the oil gets hot. I love my kitchen filled with people. Food has been the best and easiest way that I connect with people, whether it is cooking for them or swapping recipes and favorite dishes. This Designer Cooks is a space where I can share those recipes, favorite dishes, the memories they take me to and new places they lead me. Mostly, I hope that this blog inspires others to cook at home as many great food blogs out there do. I am not a trained chef as I mentioned above, but I am a trained visual artist. I am always amazed at the similarities between these two arts. I received a BFA from Suny Purchase with a concentration in painting. Painting is still very close to my heart. It is something that will always be a part of me not just because there will always come a time when I need to pick a paint brush but because of its influence on how I see. I spent 10 years of my career as an art teacher where I hoped I could share that way of seeing with others. I currently work as a textile designer.
