| Introduction | If you don’t want to inappropriately laugh, don’t sit by me. I will ruin the most solemn moments with irreverent humor or by pointing out something that no one was supposed to see. Born in South Louisiana, I’ve seen the world, worked in big business, and then somehow decided that the best thing to do was for me to become a lawyer. Turns out my father was right all along, I was supposed to be an attorney. I spend my days professionally doing legal work, fighting for good children’s policy in a state where outcomes for kids have been terrible for almost as long as I’ve been alive. In one of my side hustles, I am an adjunct professor to budding young legal minds. In another, I’m a wannabe novelist. I never could pick just one thing I wanted to be when I grew up, but in my next life, I hope I get to come back as a penguin. |
