Introduction | Poet, translator, teacher; presently Professor of English at Kumaun University Campus, Almora, Uttarakhand, India. I had my schooling at St.Francis High School, Lucknow and higher education at Lucknow University. I have the good fortune of belonging to two cities known for their distinct culture: Lucknow, my janamabhoomi, the land of my ancestors, known for its 'Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb', symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity, fine manners and etiquette, and Almora, my karmabhoomi, the cultural capital of Kumaun, a city that makes you look inwards, confront existential issues and reconcile yourself with what you are. I enjoy teaching and cherish the love and respect of my students.I have been emotional to the point of being stupid. Perhaps, I still am, though now I tend to believe that I have become wiser and a little more balanced than before. |
