| Introduction | My name is Jack F. Wells, Jr. I was born in 1954 in Huntington, West Virginia. I spent my first 30 years hanging out in W.Va. I did manage to complete a B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Journalism from Marshall University. I worked on a newspaper for a year or so. I was fairly good at it, but the pay was crap. I took a mindless, better-paying job in the quality control lab of a local factory. When the Reagan Revolution hit the U.S., I was laid off and there were no jobs to be had in the area. I worked part-time in a mall record shop. I joined the Peace Corps at age 31 to teach English as a Foreign Language in Sana’a, Yemen. I returned to the States and got my M.A. from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. I did my graduate internship at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez. I was in deep debt and needed a high paying job as soon as I finished my M.A. I flew into Saudi Arabia a day before Saddam invaded Kuwait. After about a year of Saudi I got called for a job interview in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I’m still here. I guess it’s been about 13 years or so. |
