| Introduction | My grandfather was a dancer at the Moulin Rouge, my grandmother a crazed painter who found her passion at the age of 74, and my father a prolific sculptor. I was literally raised in an environment where breathing and creativity were synonymous. I also grew up in a family of artists bound by their own myths of limitation - myths which inhibited everything from artistic achievement to monetary success. I got to see what worked - and mostly what didn't. When I started down my own creative road as a professional artist 18 years ago(expressing myself first as a poet, then as a jazz musician then as a visual artist and now as a professional storyteller) I tried to do things differently. Along the way, I managed to pick up some knowledge from the Creative Institute known as Life. The system for success that I've created for myself is called 21 Hours and it's based on a simple equation of putting twenty one hours a week of good hard work into the business end of all my creative endeavors. It's certainly not for everyone, but I've seen those who understand creativity and business use that number to move closer to a life where their creative ambitions prosper. |
