Introduction	Married to my lovely wife Linda for over 40 years/ Father to 3 astoundingly bright and beautiful women/ Grandfather to 8 gorgeous grandchildren/ Father-in-law to 3 magnificent men/ Physician and friend to many wonderful people/ Follower and servant of Christ/ Elder of Tabernacle Church of Norfolk/ Student and teacher of His Word/ Lover of His people/ Beneficiary of His mercy and grace. On January 23,2008 I was diagnosed with advanced stage IV Malignant Melanoma and forced to give up my practice. My initial expected survival was less than six months. Under the excellent care of oncologists Dr Burton Alexander locally and Dr William Grosh at the University of Virginia, as well as a team of other specialists (and by God's amazing grace), I experienced a remarkable response to Inter-leukin II therapy and multiple radiation therapy treatments (both gamma knife and traditional external beam). As the cancer has once more shown signs of progression, I have chosen to decline additional (desperate) treatment options and am currently in hospice care. This blog is an effort to chronicle our journey and share some lessons learned along the way.
