| Introduction | Rivy Poupko Kletenik, the daughter of Gilda Twerski Novoseller Poupko, scion of the great Hasidic dynasty and Rabbi Baruch Poupko, rabbi for over 60 years of Congregation Shaare Torah in Pittsburgh is presently Head of School at the Seattle Hebrew Academy, after serving as Director of Jewish Education Services for the Jewish Education Council of the Jewish Federation of Seattle for ten years. She has studied on the undergraduate and graduate level at Touro College, Yeshiva University, and the University of Pittsburgh, and spent the year with her family 2000 –2001 in Israel as a fellow on the Melton Senior Educator Program at the Hebrew University. Her articles on topics of Jewish interest appear in local and national publications and she was presented with the American Jewish Press Association first prize award for commentary in 2001. She was awarded the 2002 Covenant Award for Outstanding Jewish Educators. Rivy is the wife of Moshe Kletenik, rabbi of Congregation Bikkur Cholim-Machzikay Hadath in Seattle and is the mother of four children and two grandchildren. |
