| Introduction | I grew up outside of Detroit and then went to college in the heart of the city. It was there that I fell into writing in an attempt to capture the feeling of life in the midst of abandoned places and abandoned people. When it was time to leave I came to the Northwest for its wilderness. I'm most fascinated by how people and landscapes shape each other -all over the world -throughout history -the conversation between land and culture.
