| Introduction | We are a family of 5 (including an 15, 13, and 5 year old) now expats living in Costa Rica. We started out on sabbatical for a year and for now we are staying on. . . We are a mom and dad who are ex-backpackers. 15 years ago we vowed from places like the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall and the Serengeti that we'd travel with our future children. This blog is made up of the virtual travel notes of the experience and where it leads us. Our motto? A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving-Lao Tzu Our hope? That this kind of travel proves as enriching, fun and life-changing as travel without kids. The term sabbatical comes from the Greek and Latin concept of 'ceasing'---we've been planning and saving for this trip for a long time-ceasing work and commencing a time of just being together as a family.
