| Introduction | I was born in Washington, DC, well before cell phones or the Internet. I left social media in 2013 after experiencing something personally devastating on it, leaving me with this blog to digitally record my thoughts. I have a PhD in Biological Anthropology & Anatomy and spent 7+ years working with wild orangutans in the remote forests of Indonesian Borneo after an initial field season following wild gibbons in Thailand. If you want to read more about that, check out my field blog: "Close Encounters of the Python Kind". Now back in DC, working as the Curator of Primates at Smithsonian's National Zoo. I live in a forested neighborhood of DC with my two cats, one of whom (Niko) is so smart, he has his own blog! When I am not working, I spend my free time next door hiking in the forest, working more than I should, world building for the fantasy book in my head, and geocaching in and around DC. |
