| Introduction | I am southern gal, born and raised. I was born in Bristol, TN says my birth certificate, VA says Social Security. I was raised in Galax, Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. My mom’s family has lived there since at least 1783 when the then Governor of Virginia, James Monroe, gave our great, great, great, great Grandpa 100 acres of land in the area.My Grandpa built a lumber company/saw mill by the New River. He is still one of the smartest men I have ever known. Some of my family still lives there, the ones who claim me, anyways. We still gather together, as Grandma Pearl would say. My grandfather Hickam was Carpenter and helped build many habit for Humanity Homes in Bristol, My Granny Hickam was a principal for a elementary school in Bristol, TN. I miss them all dearly. I come from good stock some would say.. I also come from a family of giants, and it seems it missed me. I am a mommy to three, and have a pretty awesome boyfriend.. Who is a just fun as me.. Did I mention he is a country singing plumber from south Ga? |
