| Introduction | Welcome! We are Rory & Ashley. The dreamers, founders, creators, and collaborators of Cara Creek Eco Lodge, an off grid eco project in Central Portugal. In 2017 we moved to Portugal and set off on this wild adventure. It took us only 3 weeks to find the majestic piece of land we call home located on the River Seia in Central Portugal. Requiring about a year of clearing land, have a look back to see how we have managed the invasive and non-native mimosa forest it was. From there, we’ve built from the ground up using natural building materials and with the help of many! Fast forward, I'm picking up this blog where I left off in 2019 when things got a tad hectic during our final push to open for Summer 2019. We managed to pull off opening that summer and hosted various retreats, a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, and some fun pop up events. We closed down for winter, and then the world faced a pandemic so in the meantime we have continued construction. Improving, expanding, and living with a few day retreats when we could. |
