| Introduction | I am a PhD student at Birkbeck College, University of London writing a thesis on Wanstead House, Essex, demolished in 1824. My interests in piecing together lost histories has led me to create this blog. The aim of Missing Storeys is to uncover other histories of sites now lost. By doing so, I hope to demonstrate how we can use material evidence such as paintings, maps, drawings, furniture, contemporary accounts, archaeology and nature to rediscover histories that have long been lost. |
