| Introduction | Amnesty International at Florida Atlantic University was chartered in the spring of 2006, and became active on September 16, 2006. Within seven months, the chapter had become one of the largest and fastest-growing student organizations at FAU, with nearly 300 members across two campuses. The chapter continues to work hard at raising the profile of human rights among the FAU student population, and has hosted large events such as "The Day for Darfur" inter-faith rally, the "Hands Up! Arms Down!" campaign to stop the illegal arms trade, the "Air Torture" interactive exhibit highlighting the human rights abuses taking place at Guananamo Bay, and the "MAKE SOME NOISE!" concert for peace in Darfur. |
