| Introduction | Lemme see. I'm 69, which, as a younger person I always thought was a funny age. Now that I'm here, I don't see that there's all that much to laugh about. (Oops, I just ended a sentence with a preposition. Sorry Mrs. Dark.) Mrs. Dark was my 9th grade English teacher. Sweet woman, as I recall, and I recall her very fondly, largely because she always laughed at my jokes. Not the condescending twitters and tongue-clucking that usually passes for laughter between kids and their elders, either. Belly laughs. That's what I got from Mrs. Dark, Larger than life, knee-slapping, no holds barred, mirth and merriment, that's what it was. Either that or Mrs. Dark had given up a brilliant stage career to come and teach me about prepositions. I wonder, is it possible to digress when you have no idea what you're talking about? I'll have to look that up. (Oops. You see that? I just did it again. I'm incorrigible, so don't incorrige me. Oh, no. That was a real groaner. Awful. Stay with me, now. I'll get better. Oh, crap.
