| Introduction | I have been a practicing artist all of my life. Painting has been my first love, but I discovered photography in college and have spent considerable time and energy 'chasing the light'. I have a deep sense of conviction that art can be a source of great consolation, enlightenment, richness and understanding. Therefore I am not a friend of art and artists who strive to create enigmatic and obfuscatory work that is inaccessible to most people. As an undergrad at Penn State I was blessed to meet Dr. Ernst Hans Freund, and it was under his kind guidance that I became an ethicist and earned my degree in the philosophy of ethics. Throughout my life I have been unable to ignore the ethics which constitute our basis for navigating through our lives. These are intensely interesting times for anybody who can see that we are re-defining ourselves, as individuals and as a society. |
