Introduction I am a cellist studying with Eugene Friesen and majoring in Music Synthesis at the Berklee College of Music. I started this blog to teach electric string players about important technical aspects about equipment (usually made for electric guitars), thus helping them to make more informed purchases, more efficient rig set-ups and (hopefully) to play with a satisfying, professional-level sound.
I have read many articles about "going electric," but they unfailingly were only guides about getting started, afterward leaving the reader on his or her own. Such was my case. Fortunately, I worked at a music store with several guitarists who were more than happy to talk to me about impedance, tubes, distortion, cables, pedals, etc. After one and a half years of asking them questions and doing my own research, I have a very good understanding of how to use electric guitar equipment with electric string instruments. I want to share the information that I've learned since it's uncommon in the string world and it can make the difference between sounding good and sounding great.
Please feel free to comment on any of my posts, I would love other people's input!
