| Introduction | Amai the bird of light is a cartoon character developed by me. I use art and books in helping children in crises situation in the healing process. This blog documents some art and book reading sessions I conducted while I was part of a group of friends who were active in helping children in crisis situations in Pakistan from 2009 till 2011. This blog was created in 2009 to honor the efforts of the efforts of these amazing Pakistani women in helping the Internally Displaced Children during the conflict in Swat and the floods of 2010. Some of these amazing women are. Amna Paracha, Madiha Syed, Fauzia Minallah, Ghazala Minallah,Falaknaz Asfandyar, Tahira Abdullah, Sara Mahmood Akhtar, Humaira Masihuddin, Naila Zahid and Maham Ali. I organised special activities with the displaced children, using art to exorcise their fears.A healing center Amai's Nest was set up in Bahrain for the children affected by the floods. |
