| Introduction | Adrian Segar has designed and facilitated conferences for 30+ years. Until recently, his conference work coexisted alongside several other professions, including elementary particle physics research, co-owning a solar manufacturing company, teaching computer science, and a long spell of information technology consulting. Since the publication of his book "Conferences That Work: Creating Events That People Love" in 2009 he has become a champion for participant-led and participation-rich meetings that uncover and satisfy attendee needs for relevant content and connections. His second book “The Power of Participation” was described as "a book that should be OPEN on every meeting planner’s and event marketer’s desk, and used every day”. Adrian has been named one of The Most Innovative People in Events, and one of The Top 10 Event Professionals Worth Knowing on Social Media. Adrian writes regularly on event design on his blog and is the community manager of the G+ eventprofs community. He has presented at Meeting Professionals International’s World Education Congress, EIBTM, MPI Chapter meetings, the MPI Chapter Business Summit, FRESH, MEET, and GMIC & NESAE annual conferences. |
