| Introduction | New Tampa Vegans is a local vegan advocacy group that was founded in 2006 by Joan Zacharias and Brenda Hay. In the beginning, New Tampa Vegans hosted fun and informative events for locals and visitors that were based in an vegan environment. We helped those who had already made the switch to veganism to find a group of like-minded friends in the local area to spend time with in a fun atmosphere. We also helped to provide a safe and comfortable haven to inform those who were not yet aware of the benefits of veganism. Our events were open to not only vegans, but also to vegetarians, raw-foodists, veg-curious, and non-veg. Families, singles, and children were all welcome. Most of our events benefited local animal-friendly non-profit organizations. In recent times, we have moved in different directions, and, unfortunately, are not able to host events locally. However, our website will always be available for your use in finding local resources and general information about veganism.
