Introduction	Ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order. I'm a local lad and grew up in Sydney's western suburbs, as did my Mum and Dad. the family was Catholic as was my schooling. Theism did not really grab me except for fear and guilt which was primary relied upon. The fear of "what if" even once inclined me to the priesthood. Guilt was about touching myself let alone someone else. In retrospect, I did resent being told how to behave - that typical reaction against authority. To succeed in the world, once had to gain qualifications and that meant studying to pass examinations. So I got myself a university degree and entered a career. But success seemed remote and only to be achieved through hard work, I was a fairly shy young man with poor social interaction skills and hard worked eventually bored me. I wanted something different. I chose a path of Buddhism and have been ordained into the Western Buddhist Order (now the Triratna Buddhist Order) over 30 years ago.
