| Introduction | Heath Johnson is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, which represented something of a homecoming at the time, but fails to explain how he wound up spending his entire adulthood (thus far) in Texas. Besides teaching America’s youth in the broken and antiquated system that continues to ignore a global worldview, he is the author of twelve books and has worked a variety of odd jobs including repossessor of mobile homes, bricklayer’s helper, bus boy, hospital orderly, limousine chauffeur, professional scenic carpenter, opera supernumerary, EMT, police dispatcher, FedEx package handler, and collectible and first editions book dealer. He travels, reads, and bicycles on-road and off, and, as just mentioned, lives in Texas. This because his parents moved there when he was barely eighteen and had no say in the matter; because he met, married, and divorced his wife there; because his sons were born there; and . . . well, because there’s no state income tax. He desperately wants to relocate just the same. |
| Interests | Domestic road trips in the U.S.; international travel, reading, writing, hiking, bike riding, people watching, movies, live music, theater, just to name a few. |
| Favorite movies | Too many to count. Classics, mostly. I'm a sucker for black and white dramas and comedies (think "Casablanca," the Marx Brothers, "Adam & Eve," etc.) |
| Favorite music | I'm all over the map. Let me make it easier for you: I detest rap, hip-hop, computer-generated "music," anything labeled "R & B" that is post, say, 1975, any kind of metal (speed, thrash, death . . . you get the idea). Pretty much anything else is a "go." One minute I may be listening to The Doors, the next minute opera. Depends upon my mood, I guess. |
| Favorite books | Again, way too many to count. Anything by Richard Bach, James Redfield, Shirley MacLaine, Tim O'Brien, Carl Sagan, Bill Bryson, Ian McEwan, Richard Halliburton, Harlan Ellison, Ray Bradbury for starters. |
