About me

Location Hursley, Hampshire, United Kingdom
Introduction I am an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the Chief Architect of the WebSphere Foundation, which includes the WebSphere Application Server. I have a 20 year background in distributed transaction processing, which is actually a lot more interesting than it sounds. I also spend time working in software standards, where I'm the chair of the OASIS WS-Tx technical committee and a member of the OSGi Enterprise Expert Group, amongst other things. I'm based in IBM's Hursley Lab in the UK, which has two nice pubs very close by. I have a PhD in Physics (on the structure of thin films) from Exeter University. All opinions are my own and don't reflect those of my employer, IBM.
