| Introduction | I love to travel. I'm not sure where the urge comes from, but a strange little voice in my head constantly whispers: Go out and discover the world, can't wait, must go now, now, now. While one could argue that little voices like these should be ignored (and perhaps even sedated), mine has taken me on some amazing adventures around the planet. I've stayed up with the midnight sun in St. Petersburg, searched for nudibranches (my favorite underwater critter) in Thailand, whitewater rafted in Chile, and ridden a camel through the Egyptian desert. While I haven't always made the safe, traditional decision, I am also still here, all in one piece. And that counts for something, right? I spent about six years working on cruise ships, at both Norwegian Cruise Line and Holland America, as a youth coordinator. Today I am a writer and my work has appeared in Outside, Outside Traveler and Go; National Geographic Traveler; Spirit, Southwest's in-flight magazine; and Travel + Leisure, among others. |
