Introduction | BETWEEN AMTALA AND AFGHANISTAN A collection of glimpses for many days. From Amtala to Afghanistan and from Surajkund to San Francisco. I have captured the glimpses in celluloid and in pixels. They express themselves mostly as pictures for stories, rarely as stories of the pictures. I am basically a street photographer. I like snapping everyday moments in the course of my travels. Then I wondered what it would be like to string together these pieces in a narrative. So I sifted through the frames, sorted them, recalled the moments, the places, essentially microwaving the idea in the mind since 2008. What came out of the ‘Oven’ was a lesson in the adaptability of people, a study of their habits, human relationships. The lesson that we share so much, that we have so much in common. From Amtala to Afghanistan and from Surajkund to San Francisco. |
