| Introduction | My nicknames abound: Dan Bessemer, Claroofus Jones, Quimulus the Devout. I have others, but they don't get much air. Actually, Bessemer is my corporate power name. I am a grunt at my day job so I don't employ Bessemer at present, not at my job. I put on the robe and the crown after work, sahtin shaw. Claroofus Jones is my know-it-all African American, dispensing truth from a porch swing. There is no hesitation to his talk or walk, even if he is sitting and merely grunting affirmations to himself in agreement with an unstated opinion of his own sef. Quimulus the Devout is a non-Spanish Don Quixote, trepid as opposed to intrepid. He is a cleric, but in the mold of the era when the most literate people existed in the clergy, as well as prominent scientists and authors. There is an air of forgetfulness to him, and self-cancellation along with self-flagellation. If you will, a cross between Jeff Spiccoli and Galileo. |
