| Introduction | EmptyBox Theatre were formed in September 2009 by graduates of Central School of Speech and Drama’s MA Advanced Theatre Practice course. With a shared belief in the limitless nature of our imaginations, and a fascination with puppets, shadows and the amalgamation of the two, the company are keen to explore potential opportunities for performance and collaboration. As an emerging company, EmptyBox Theatre embraces the restrictions it faces and seeks to make intelligent work that challenges audiences and shares inventive theatrical ideas with them - we strive to explore the possibilities of working with simple materials to create unique worlds and characters. Norman Shadowboxer, the company’s debut production, was first performed at the 2009 International Student Puppet Festival; since then, the production has continued to develop and has been performed at Lyric Hammersmith, Southwark Playhouse and to a number of schools in London. In August 2010, Norman Shadowboxer will be performed at C aquila as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010. |
