| Introduction | Hey there! This is a blog I am beginning for my family and friends to be able to track my weight loss journey, goals, and triumphs and struggles since I have had the lapband surgery in 2012 and have now switched to the gastric sleeve. I initially did well with the lapband, and lost almost 95 pounds total over the course of a year and a half; however, as time went on and my schedule got crazier with graduate school, work, and life, I realized that it was not the best fit for me. By August of 2014, I had put back on almost all of the weight I had lost and was continually frustrated with my lapband, not feeling full, and getting sick frequently. My bariatric doctor agreed that lapband was no longer a good fit for me and encouraged me to switch to the gastric sleeve which has a much better long term success rate. After 6 months of insurance required nutritional classes, I had my lapband removed and got the gastric sleeve done on March 23, 2015. . I am confident that the gastric sleeve will be a much better fit for my lifestyle and am excited to embark on a continued weight loss journey that will lead to long term success! |
