Introduction I direct the Education for Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC), an Iraq-specific policy advocacy shop dedicated to ending the near-genocidal conflict in Iraq. My passion for Iraq comes from my background as a 1991 Gulf War veteran and human rights advocate who has forged enduring friendships with the Iraqi Diaspora, activist Americans, fellow U.S. veterans and returning service members, aid workers, Iraq scholars and policy professionals who care deeply about finding and advancing meaningful solutions. I know that peace and progress -- however difficult in the face of catastrophic violence -- remains possible. The difference is whether or not Iraq’s peacebuilders receive the support they need. For the sake of Iraq’s 26+ million citizens (including millions who have been displaced by violence and loss of livelihood) and rebuilding America’s image in the world, I fight to do all that I can to make it so.
