| Introduction | Just read, you'll get the picture. I believe that I am a magnet for the bizzare and draw the unusual to me. I like to try to turn around an unpleasant incident or confrontation with a sarcastic or comic quip. I like to challenge myself by throwing myself into situations or opportunities (whether I'm qualified or not) that scare me senseless. Just seize the moment -- life is too short to be paralyzed or sabotaged by shyness or inactivity. Of course, this makes for a lot of stress. Don't take everything so seriously. Have fun. |
| Interests | ballroom dancing, west coast swing, salsa, singing, musical jamming, open mic, karaoke, guitar, violin, mandolin, small keyboard, clave, & percussion instruments (very few of which I can play but it makes me happy to own these musical instruments), gardening, plants, orchids, charcoal sketching, travel, gourmet cooking, many different genres of film, music, novels, reading, writing, alternative health info and researching, handyman skills (electrical/plumbing/fixing things - I like to take stuff apart and then reassemble), friendly extended debates as to why I disagree and might have a valid point (or not) and/or endless inquiries as to matters I'm ignorant of (there are so many!), counseling my friends, massages (receiving and giving - although I seem to give more than I receive), good food, good wine, a few select good friends, fun activities - life is short, adventurous travel, interests and meetups too numerous to list |
| Favorite movies | Memento (2000), East of Eden ('55), Spiral Staircase ('46), Life is Beautiful ('98), It's a Wonderful Life ('46), Time After Time ('79 - HG Wells), The Red Barn, Cherry Blossom Time, Malena, any good mystery, action, drama, most Woody Allen films, spy films, Foreign Films (from Australia, Canada, France and Italy), I like films with a lot of personal interaction (although sometimes they get a little bit too talky), I like films that make me think and try to figure it out, Gilda Radner, Taxi (TV), Saturday Night Live (the old one), Laugh In, Second City, Ernie Kovacs |
| Favorite music | Jazz, Blues, Classical, Cowboy, Yodeling, Pop, Rock n Roll, Doo Wop.... I'm pretty eclectic. My latest? Cante jondo. |
| Favorite books | Many by: Dean Koontz, Robert Ludlum, J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts, Jonathan Kellerman, Jefferey Deaver, Tami Hoag, Patricia Cornwell, Michael Crichton, Jack London, Maeve Binchy, Pearl Buck, Louisa May Alcott (I know it's strange to see these last three names amongst the others), As with movies I like anything that is going to have me on the edge of my seat. |
