Introduction Gonçalo M Furtado C Lopes is graduated in Architecture (Oporto Univ.,Portugal), Master (Univ. Politecnica da Catalunha,Spain), and PhD in History and Theory of Architecture (Univ. College of London,England). His dissertation focuses on the exchanges between architecture and systems research, the encounters of the British professionals - Gordon Pask, Cedric Price and John Frazer -, and provides a complete account of two outstanding architectural projects related to systems and computation - Generator and Japan Net.
