| Introduction | I work with many volunteers to prevent tobacco use & exposure. What does that mean? Good question. Here are a few of the things I do: -Coordinate a Youth Advisory Board of local high school and middle school youth -Compliance checks to ensure tobacco retailers do not sell to minors. - Outreach education opportunities are available to any group that is intersted in receiving more information on any aspect of tobacco prevention and control. Topics may include secondhand smoke, youth tobacco use and prevention, health consequences of tobacco use, economic impact of tobacco use and exposure, best practices for implementing a policy (worksite), assisting current tobacco users with quitting. -provide training and technical assistance for residents who are interested in advocating for change. -Seek media outreach opportunities to educate public on the issues |
