| Introduction | I've painted all my life, but I'm largely self taught as Dad dissuaded me from going to Art college. He disapproved deeply of modern teaching ideas! So, I carried on regardless, painting mostly family, friends and anyone who'd sit still long enough. My main interest is in people, and I've been lucky enough to attend classes with Richard Wills, who has provided a succession of fabulous faces for me to paint. I've also attended life classes for many years, first run by my Dad, Malcolm Morris, and in later years by Angela Palmer. In these classes I've drawn, painted and sculpted the nude, the latter being particularly useful in learning anatomy. In more recent years I've concentrated on painting because I love the magic that comes from glorious colour and loose brushstrokes. I've not looked for a 'formula' that always works. Every picture's an adventure. |
