Introduction I am a freelance journalist living near Tokyo. I studied English Literature at Japanese and British universities, then worked from 1981 to 1992 as a researcher for the Tokyo Bureau of American Broadcasting Company News. During the 1993-1994 academic year, I studied political science at Cambridge University in England. In 2001, I joined the English language newspaper Asahi Shimbun in Tokyo as a researcher, covering financial news. I also wrote articles on such popular musicians as Chinese pianist Lang Lang for the English Asahi. As a freelance writer, I followed the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra to Shanghai and then to South Korean cities in 2005, filing reports on their Asian tour. I have also written the previews of operas and concerts for the English language web magazines. In 2012, I was a line producer of the feature film "Lives Interrupted." Directed by Bruce Schwartz, the film reflects on the 1994 killing of two Japanese students in California. In 2014, I worked as a translator for the public relations of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. (This was a part-time and home-based job).
Interests I am keen on singing opera arias, and also reading reviews of western classical music performances as well as articles on neuroscience.
