| Interests | Anthony Pinkston’s career in the decorative arts began in June of 2002 when a family acquaintance, knowing of Anthony’s background in art, passed his number along to a couple looking to commission a mural. The mural proved to be a hit and Anthony threw himself into an exciting transitional period. Within a month he had left the family business and developed a small portfolio of finishes. Anthony would name his new business Faux Haus. A home show just two weeks later would provide Faux Haus with its first few official projects. Anthony quickly realized there was much more, in the way of product offerings, than what was available at the local box stores. This realization quickly lead to professional training with products specifically designed for decorative finishing. Business exploded and in 2004 Anthony received his first of nine national awards for decorative arts. This recognition along with relationships established with other artists has taken Anthony across the nation to work on projects and commissions. In 2008 Anthony accepted a role as moderator on Talk Faux, an online forum of decorative artists two thousand plus members strong. Again, this recognition and exposure brought opportunity. 2009 will see Anthony fill the role as guest instructor and mentor at two well respected decorative finishing studios, the development of Cab Rehab, a cabinet refinishing company with locations in Boise and Seattle, and the development of Method “The nuts and bolts of decorative finishing, ” a subscription based online resource library and portfolio enhancement tool. |
