| Introduction | Dr Samson Nivins is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. He holds a PhD in Medicine (Perinatal) from the Liggins Institute, University of Auckland, New Zealand, where his doctoral research examined long-term brain and neurodevelopmental outcomes amongst school-aged children exposed to neonatal hypoglycaemia. His research explores how prenatal and postnatal environmental stressors including pregnancy complications and early-life adversities shape children’s risk trajectories for cognitive and psychiatric disorders. He has a particular interest in identifying modifiable factors that can guide preventive strategies and improve life-course health among vulnerable populations. Dr Nivins’ broader goal is to translate insights from developmental neuroscience into practical interventions that promote healthier brain and behavioural development in children at risk. |
