Introduction | I am an artist living in Chicago with my husband of 25+ years. I make zines as objects of exchange, to put my work into people's hands. I was born white, male and Jewish in 1951 in the Bronx, NY. Those accidents of birth have been both a gift and a challenge. Sometimes queer seems like the right label as it invites me to step up and acknowledge the many ways to be queer, to embrace all aspects of LGBT, and connect with other outsiders. I seek creative dissonance and celebrate the richness of life. Photography is a gateway to being present, grounding awareness in direct perception. Holding a camera shifts me to a visual mode, fully in my body, in the world, here and now. This is a meditative practice, a non-verbal experience of ordinary moments that connects hands, eyes, heart and mind. My pronouns are he/him/his. "Make good trouble" John Lewis |
