Introduction These days more of a naturalist and rural observer than a radio broadcaster. I began this blog way back in 2007 and following a brief hiatus when social media grabbed my attention, I have now returned to my natural habitat. After 10 wonderful years as a wildlife radio producer, before that 16 years as a natural history specialist and archivist in the BBC's Natural History Unit, as I approach retirement I've stepped back to give myself more time for real encounter. I've recently been appointed onto the Executive Council of the Richard Jefferies Society to help promote the works of this inspired natural history writer. But why Wessex Reiver? - simply I hail from the north of England where the ‘steel bonnets’ the Border Reiver families once held sway in lawless abandon. And I now live in Wessex.
