| Introduction | Being outdoors has been a passion since childhood. Having retired early in 2025 these days I'm a rural observer. I loved my 30 plus years mostly at the BBC's Natural History Unit (Living World, Tweet of the Day etc) but everything comes to an end. This blog began in 2007-8, today it provides an ad-hoc site to my wanderings, not just the natural world but anything which catches my eye. I'm also a Trustee of the Richard Jefferies Society holding the Membership Secretary role since 2024. And why Wessex Reiver? - I hail from the north east of England where the ‘steel bonnets’ the Border Reiver families once held sway in lawless abandon. I now live in Wessex. The connection is incidental. |
